Begin with a visit to the Mattupetty Dam and Dairy Farm, a picturesque spot surrounded by tea gardens and known for its calm reservoir and echoing hills. Day 3: Munnar – Alleppey (Houseboat Experience)

After breakfast at your hotel in Munnar, it's time to say goodbye to the misty hills and head to one of Kerala’s most iconic and romantic destinations—Alleppey, also known as Alappuzha or fondly referred to as the “Venice of the East.” The drive offers a scenic transition from highlands to tranquil lowlands, covering approximately 170 km in 5 hours, through winding roads, lush landscapes, and glimpses of rural Kerala life.

Upon arrival in Alleppey, you will board a beautifully crafted traditional houseboat, locally known as Kettuvallam, now transformed into a luxurious floating villa complete with all modern amenities. Historically, these boats were used to transport rice and goods across the state’s vast backwater network—today, they are the crown jewel of Kerala tourism.

As the houseboat gently cruises through the labyrinth of backwaters, you’ll witness a unique lifestyle: villagers rowing small canoes, children waving from the banks, fishermen casting their nets, and lush paddy fields stretching to the horizon. A delicious traditional Kerala lunch is served on board, freshly prepared by your onboard chef.

Spend the evening watching the sun dip into the water, turning the entire landscape into hues of gold. The calm, the rhythm of water, and the swaying palms will create a magical setting. Dinner and overnight stay on the houseboat, under the starlit sky.

This serene houseboat experience is often the highlight of every traveler’s Kerala journey—a memory to cherish for a lifetime.

Day 4: Alleppey – Kovalam (Approx. 154 km / 4.5 hrs)

After a blissful night onboard the houseboat, wake up to the gentle sound of lapping waters and the serene views of life on the backwaters. Enjoy a traditional Kerala breakfast freshly prepared on board. At around 9:00 AM, disembark from the houseboat and begin your scenic drive to Kovalam, Kerala’s famous beach paradise.

The 154 km journey offers delightful views of Kerala’s countryside, dotted with palm trees, paddy fields, and coastal hamlets. On arrival in Kovalam, check in to your beachside hotel and unwind.

Kovalam is known for its crescent-shaped beaches, soft sands, and calm Arabian Sea waters. In the evening, head to Lighthouse Beach or Hawa Beach to witness one of the most breathtaking sunsets you’ll ever see—the sky ablaze with colors as the sun dips into the sea.

Spend a peaceful, leisurely night enjoying the sea breeze, local cuisine, or simply relaxing at your hotel by the beach.
