Day 1: Arrival in Accra, Ghana - Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport, you will be greeted by our local representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in and a short rest, begin your exploration of Accra, a city blending modernity with rich history. Visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, honoring Ghana’s first president, and the Independence Arch, a national symbol. Stroll through the Makola Market, alive with vibrant colors, fabrics, and spices, offering a taste of local life. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring traditional Ghanaian cuisine, accompanied by live drumming and dance performances. Overnight stay in Accra.
Day 2: Accra to Lomé, Togo - After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Lomé, the coastal capital of Togo. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel before starting your city tour. Visit the Lomé Grand Market, a bustling hub where traders sell everything from handicrafts to spices. Explore the National Museum of Togo, which houses artifacts tracing the country’s cultural history. A highlight of the day is the Akodessawa Fetish Market, a unique place showcasing traditional medicines and voodoo items, giving insight into West Africa’s spiritual heritage. Enjoy a stroll along the beach promenade, feeling the coastal breeze as you watch fishermen at work. Dinner and overnight in Lomé.
Day 3: Lomé to Ouidah, Benin - After breakfast, cross the border into Benin, arriving in the historic town of Ouidah, known for its significant role in the transatlantic slave trade and its voodoo traditions. Begin your tour at the Ouidah Museum of History, located in an old Portuguese fort, where you’ll learn about Benin’s colonial past. Walk along the Route des Esclaves (Slave Route) leading to the Door of No Return, a poignant UNESCO site overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. In the afternoon, visit the Python Temple, where sacred pythons are revered as symbols of fertility and protection. Experience a traditional voodoo ceremony for a deeper cultural understanding. Overnight stay in Ouidah.
Day 4: Ouidah to Cotonou & Ganvié Excursion - After breakfast, head to Cotonou, Benin’s largest city and economic hub. On arrival, take a short trip to Ganvié, often called the “Venice of Africa,” a stilt village located on Lake Nokoué. Travel by boat through waterways, observing daily life in this unique community where markets, homes, and schools float above the water. Return to Cotonou for lunch, followed by a city tour visiting the Dantokpa Market, one of West Africa’s largest open-air markets. End the day at the Cotonou Cathedral with its striking red-and-white facade. Dinner and overnight in Cotonou.
Day 5: Cotonou to Accra via Lomé - After breakfast, drive back towards Ghana, passing through Lomé for a brief stop to enjoy last-minute shopping for souvenirs, traditional textiles, and handcrafted goods. Continue to Accra, arriving by evening. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a casual city walk or a visit to a local art gallery showcasing Ghanaian contemporary art. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with cultural performances, reflecting on the vibrant experiences of your cross-border journey. Overnight in Accra.
Day 6: Departure from Accra - After breakfast, enjoy some free time for personal exploration or last-minute shopping at the Arts Centre for National Culture, a perfect place to find handcrafted jewelry, carvings, and African print clothing. Later, transfer to Kotoka International Airport for your onward flight. Your Ghana, Togo, and Benin Tour concludes with unforgettable memories of West Africa’s rich culture, history, and traditions.
