Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, meet our representative and transfer to your hotel. After check-in, begin your Ethiopian adventure with a half-day city tour of Addis Ababa. Visit the National Museum, home to the famous fossil “Lucy,” the Holy Trinity Cathedral, and enjoy panoramic views from Mount Entoto. End the day at the vibrant Merkato, Africa’s largest open-air market. Overnight stay in Addis Ababa.

Day 2: Addis Ababa – Bahir Dar (Flight)

After breakfast, take a scenic flight to Bahir Dar, located on the southern shores of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and then enjoy a boat trip on Lake Tana to explore ancient monasteries, such as Ura Kidane Mehret and Azwa Maryam, known for their beautiful murals and manuscripts. In the afternoon, take a short drive to visit the Blue Nile Falls, often called “Tis Issat” or “The Smoking Water.” Overnight stay in Bahir Dar.

Day 3: Bahir Dar – Gondar (Drive)

After breakfast, drive through scenic countryside to Gondar, Ethiopia’s royal city. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel before embarking on a city tour. Explore the Royal Enclosure, home to castles and palaces built by Emperor Fasilides, and the Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famous for its ceiling painted with angel faces. End the day visiting the Bath of Emperor Fasilides, still used during the Timket Festival. Overnight stay in Gondar.

Day 4: Gondar – Simien Mountains National Park

Enjoy breakfast and then drive to Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for dramatic highland landscapes and unique wildlife such as the Gelada baboon, Walia ibex, and Ethiopian wolf. Spend the day hiking or enjoying short treks to various viewpoints like Sankaber. Capture breathtaking vistas of cliffs and valleys. Overnight stay in a lodge or camp near the park.

Day 5: Simien Mountains – Axum

After breakfast, continue your journey to Axum, one of Africa’s most important archaeological sites and the ancient capital of the Axumite Empire. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax. If time permits, enjoy an evening stroll in the historic town. Overnight stay in Axum.

Day 6: Axum – Historical Exploration

Spend the day exploring the treasures of Axum. Visit the Obelisks of Axum, ancient granite stelae that mark royal tombs, and the Church of St. Mary of Zion, believed to house the Ark of the Covenant. Explore the ruins of ancient palaces, including the Queen of Sheba’s Palace, and visit archaeological museums to learn about Axum’s glorious past. Overnight stay in Axum.

Day 7: Axum – Lalibela (Flight)

After breakfast, take a flight to Lalibela, Ethiopia’s spiritual heart. Known as the “New Jerusalem,” Lalibela is famous for its monolithic rock-hewn churches carved in the 12th century. Begin your exploration with the Northern Group of Churches, including Bete Medhane Alem and Bete Maryam. Each church is unique in architecture and history. Overnight stay in Lalibela.

Day 8: Lalibela – Full Day Sightseeing

After breakfast, continue your tour of Lalibela with the Eastern Group of Churches, such as Bete Gabriel-Rufael and Bete Amanuel, followed by the iconic Bete Giyorgis (St. George’s Church), carved in the shape of a cross. In the afternoon, you may visit nearby villages to experience traditional Ethiopian hospitality and cultural life. Overnight stay in Lalibela.

Day 9: Lalibela – Mekele (Flight)

After breakfast, fly to Mekele, the capital of the Tigray region. Upon arrival, explore the surrounding rock churches of the Tigray Mountains, including Abreha We Atsbeha and Wukro Cherkos. These remote churches offer breathtaking views and fascinating religious art. Overnight stay in Mekele.

Day 10: Mekele – Addis Ababa (Flight)

Enjoy breakfast, then fly back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, spend your afternoon shopping for traditional crafts, coffee, and souvenirs. In the evening, enjoy a farewell cultural dinner with live music and traditional Ethiopian dance performances. Overnight stay in Addis Ababa.

Day 11: Departure

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight, carrying unforgettable memories of Ethiopia’s heritage and culture.
