Start your afternoon with a heritage walking tour through Dunedin’s beautifully preserved city center. Visit the Dunedin Railway Station, one of the most photographed buildings in New Zealand, thanks to its stunning Edwardian architecture. Continue to The Octagon, the vibrant heart of the city, surrounded by cafes, galleries, and churches. Stroll past the First Church, an architectural gem, and explore the grounds of the University of Otago, the oldest university in the country. Later in the day, make your way to St. Clair Beach, a popular spot for locals and surfers. Take in the sea breeze, walk along the esplanade, or simply enjoy a coffee as waves crash onto the shore. End the evening with dinner at a local eatery offering views of the ocean or the hills that frame the city. Overnight stay in Dunedin.

Day 2: Dunedin to Wellington – City to Capital - Begin your morning with a visit to Baldwin Street, the world’s steepest residential street. Whether you choose to climb it or simply admire its unique slope, it’s a fun and quirky Dunedin experience. Afterward, visit the Otago Museum, which features fascinating exhibits on Māori culture, natural history, and science. The museum is family-friendly and has interactive sections perfect for all ages. Depending on your chosen mode of transport, either head to the airport for your flight to Wellington or take a scenic drive north with connecting travel. Upon arrival in Wellington, New Zealand’s cultural and political capital, check in at your hotel and unwind for a bit. In the late afternoon, start exploring Wellington’s beautiful waterfront. Walk along Queens Wharf, enjoy street performances, and admire sculptures scattered throughout the area. Take the Wellington Cable Car from Lambton Quay up to Kelburn Lookout, offering sweeping views over the city and harbor. Return via the Botanic Garden walkway—a lush descent through native bush, rose gardens, and glowworm areas. If time permits, stop by the Cable Car Museum before heading back down. Whether you're looking for a relaxed café or a lively pub, this area has something for every mood. Overnight stay in Wellington.

You can take a brief public tour or simply enjoy the gardens surrounding the area. Continue your exploration by walking up to Mount Victoria Lookout. A short drive or hike rewards you with one of the best panoramic views of the capital city—perfect for capturing photos and taking in the beauty of Wellington’s natural setting. Depending on your departure schedule, enjoy a relaxed lunch at Oriental Bay, where you can sit by the water and watch locals biking, kayaking, or simply enjoying the sunshine.
