Day 02: Discovering Delhi

After a refreshing breakfast, it’s time to explore the capital with a delightful city tour of New Delhi. Your day starts with a visit to the towering Qutub Minar, standing 72 meters high, a remarkable example of Persian architecture. Nearby, we’ll also stop by the famous Iron Pillar, an ancient marvel that has stood the test of time, surviving for over 1500 years.

Next, we'll drive through Lutyens' Delhi, home to the city’s power corridors. Our route includes a glimpse of the grand Rashtrapati Bhawan, the Parliament House, and a stop at the iconic India Gate.

Continuing the journey, we’ll visit the splendid Humayun’s Tomb, an architectural gem built by the emperor’s widow, Hamida Banu Begum, in memory of Emperor Humayun. Not far from here, we’ll also explore Isa Khan’s Tomb, a complex built for a noble who served Sher Shah Suri, and the Safdarjung Tomb, another beautiful Mughal structure.

A visit to Agrasen Ki Baoli, a beautifully sculpted step-well, will follow. This historical water reservoir is not only an architectural marvel but also a testament to the ingenuity of its creators.

Afterward, we’ll cross the city and enter the heart of Old Delhi, where we’ll visit the grand Jama Masjid (1650), one of the largest mosques in India. As we drive through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk, you’ll be immersed in the vibrant market life of one of Delhi’s oldest districts. This area, known as Moonlight Square, is famous for its maze of streets and rich history.

No visit to Delhi would be complete without stopping at Raj Ghat, the memorial where Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi were cremated. This serene site offers a moment of reflection and respect for the nation's leaders.

The highlight of today’s tour will be a fun and exhilarating cycle rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk. Experience the colorful chaos of the market streets, with shopkeepers selling everything from traditional garments to quirky trinkets. This lively ride, accompanied by the rickshaw puller’s laughter and the joyful chatter of the crowd, will surely be a memorable experience.
