Day 1: Arrival in Cotonou – Gateway to Benin - Arrive at Cadjehoun International Airport, Cotonou, where our representative will greet you and assist with your transfer to your hotel. After check-in, relax from your journey or take an evening stroll to soak in the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
If time permits, explore Dantokpa Market, one of West Africa’s largest open-air markets, bustling with fabrics, crafts, spices, and street food. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring Beninese cuisine such as grilled fish, akassa, and spicy sauces.
Overnight in Cotonou.
Day 2: Cotonou – Ganvié Stilt Village – Porto-Novo - After breakfast, set out for Ganvié, known as the "Venice of Africa." This remarkable village is built entirely on stilts in Lake Nokoué, accessible only by boat. Glide through waterways while learning about the Tofinu people’s way of life, fishing traditions, and floating markets.
Continue to Porto-Novo, Benin’s official capital. Visit the Ethnographic Museum, King Toffa’s Palace, and the vibrant colonial quarter. The day concludes with a visit to the Great Mosque, an architectural gem inspired by Brazilian styles.

Day 3: Porto-Novo – Abomey Historical Kingdo - Today’s journey takes you to Abomey, the historic capital of the powerful Dahomey Kingdom. Explore the Royal Palaces of Abomey (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), known for their unique bas-reliefs depicting the dynasty’s history. Visit the Historical Museum to learn about the kingdom’s rulers, warriors, and ceremonial traditions.
In the afternoon, meet local artisans specializing in appliqué cloth and traditional pottery. Enjoy a cultural performance of traditional drumming and dance in the evening.
Overnight in Abomey.
Day 4: Abomey – Bohicon – Dassa-Zoumé - After breakfast, stop at Bohicon’s local market to experience everyday Beninese trade and taste tropical fruits. Continue to Dassa-Zoumé, a town surrounded by rocky hills and known for its religious diversity. Visit the Grotto of Our Lady of Arigbo, an important Catholic pilgrimage site, and learn about local legends.
Spend the afternoon exploring nearby villages to witness traditional mask-making and beadwork. Evening at leisure.
Overnight in Dassa-Zoumé.
Day 5: Dassa-Zoumé – Ouidah (Voodoo Heritage Town) - Travel to Ouidah, the spiritual heart of Benin and a center for the Voodoo religion. Visit the Python Temple, where sacred pythons roam freely as symbols of protection. Explore the Ouidah Museum of History, set in a former Portuguese fort, showcasing Benin’s role in the transatlantic slave trade.
Walk along the Route of Slaves, ending at the Door of No Return, a poignant memorial overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. In the evening, if available, witness a traditional Voodoo ceremony with drumming, chanting, and dance.
Overnight in Ouidah.
Day 6: Ouidah – Grand-Popo Beach Escape - After breakfast, head to Grand-Popo, a serene coastal town known for its palm-fringed beaches and tranquil lagoons. Enjoy a relaxing day at the beach, with opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and boat excursions along the Mono River.
Optional activities include visiting local fishing villages or birdwatching in the mangroves. In the evening, enjoy a seafood dinner by the shore.
Overnight in Grand-Popo.
Day 7: Grand-Popo – Cotonou City Tour - Return to Cotonou for a full-day city tour. Visit the Fidjrosse Beach, the Artisanal Center, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Shop for souvenirs such as wooden carvings, colorful batik fabrics, and handmade jewelry.
Spend your last evening enjoying a farewell dinner with live music, reflecting on the incredible cultural experiences of your journey.
Overnight in Cotonou.
Day 8: Departure from Cotonou - Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before your transfer to Cadjehoun International Airport for your onward flight. Depart with unforgettable memories of Benin’s vibrant culture, history, and warm hospitality.
