Ayodhya: Explore the important religious sites in Ayodhya, including: Ayodhya, revered as one of ancient India's seven holiest towns or ‘Sapta Puris’ is located on the bank of the ancient River Saryu. Ayodhya, the former capital of the Avadh area holds a special place in the hearts of devotees because it is the birthplace of Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram. It is believed that the Gods themselves created this holy place. According to scriptures, numerous great kings ruled the capital city of Kosaldesh, including Ikshvaku, Prithu, Mandhata, Harishchandra, Sagar, Bhagirath, Raghu, Dileep, Dashrath, and Lord Shri Ram. During their reign, the kingdom's magnificence peaked and exemplified Ram Rajya. The famous epics, Ramayan and ShriRamcharitmanas exhibit the splendour of Ayodhya. An episode of Ramayan, a page of ancient history and a cluster of tourist attractions, this town has been a major centre for pilgrims, historians, archaeologists and students alike
· Ram Janmabhoomi (the birthplace of Lord Ram) Marking the birthplace of Lord Ram, the site of the Lord Ram Temple has held deep significance for devotees for decades.
· After years of anticipation, the Consecration Ceremony of the Ram Lalla Idol took place on January 22nd, 2024, marking a momentous occasion for thousands of devotees who celebrated with fervour. Now open to all, the beautifully designed temple continues to captivate visitors and fulfil the long-held wait of countless believers.
· Hanuman Garhi- Constructed in the shape of a fort, the 10th-century ancient temple is situated in the centre of the pilgrim town. It is believed to be the spot where Lord Hanuman resided in a cave and protected the town.
· The temple has a golden idol of Lord Hanuman; it is counted among the most important temples of Ayodhya. Every day thousands of devotees visit Hanumangarhi to offer prayers and seek Lord Hanuman's protection from evils, and blessing for happiness and prosperity.
Dashrath Mahal- Dashrath Mahal is a beautiful palace in the heart of Ayodhya, the very place where Lord Ram and his family lived most of their life. Inside the mahal, there is a shrine of Lord Rama, Lakshman, and Devi Sita. These deities symbolise dharma, moral integrity and devotion that we learn about through Ramayan. Their presence in this historic monument brings together the divine and legendary heritage of Ayodhya’s spiritual and historical landscape. King Dashrath was Lord Ram’s father and the founder of Ayodhya. This magnificent palace was home to the legacy of King Dashrath as a king and Lord Rama as a child and youngster. One can find saffron-clothed monks singing and reciting mantras inside the mahal. The Dashrath Bhavan is decorated well during celebrations and festivals like Ram Vivah, Diwali, Shravan Mela and Ram Navami.
· Kanak Bhavan - Situated northeast of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, this temple is renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship. Legend has it that Mata Kaikeyi presented this edifice to Lord Shri Ram and Goddess Sita as their personal residence. Initially refurbished by King Vikramaditya and subsequently by Bhanu Kunwari, the main sanctum sanctorum houses the revered statues of Shri Ram and Goddess Sita.
· Ram ki Paidi- A series of ghats set on the banks of river Saryu that serves as a platform for devotees who come here to wash away their sins. It also has lush green gardens surrounded by temples. The riverfront brings forth an outstanding panorama, especially on floodlit nights. These serve as platforms to devotees who, it is believed, come to wash away their sins by taking a dip in the holy river.
· Treta ke Thakur Also famous as Kaleram - ka - Mandir, the beautiful temple is believed to mark the spot where Lord Ram performed the legendary Ashwamedha Yagna. The Raja of Kullu (Himachal Pradesh) built the present structure about three centuries ago. It was later renovated by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore (Madhya Pradesh). The statues installed here are made of black sandstone; it is believed that they belong to the era of King Vikramaditya.
· Witness the evening Aarti at Saryu Ghat (if your schedule allows). The Saryu Ghat is one of Ayodhya's most significant ghats, situated along the sacred Saryu River, which holds immense importance in Hindu mythology. This is where devotees gather for holy dips, religious rituals, and the grand evening Aarti that lights up the riverside with a divine glow.
·
The Aarti at Saryu Ghat takes place every evening, with timings
that vary depending on the season:
· Summer (April to October): Aarti typically begins around 7:00 PM.
· Winter (November to March): Aarti usually starts around 6:00 PM.
· Tip: Arrive at least 30 minutes before the Aarti to find a good spot, as the crowd starts gathering early, especially on weekends and festivals.·

The Agra fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site.It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city.
· After the First Battle of Panipat in 1526, the victorious Babur stayed in the fort, in the palace of Ibrahim Lodi. He later built a baoli in it.
